Kamiakin tops Richland 45-42

Khadidja Toure scored 23 points, Courtney Nelson added 12 points and eight boards, and the Kamiakin Braves opened the season with a tight 45-42 win over the visiting Richland Bombers on Friday night.
Neither team shot well in the nonleague contest, the Bombers hitting 27 percent from the floor and the Braves 30 percent.
"We had some really good shots," said Kamiakin coach Tammy Hutchison. "Maybe it was just the first game, but the shots were just not going in the hoop -- circling and bouncing around."
Kennedy Corrigan scored 15 points and had eight rebounds for Richland, which held the lead twice in the final 3 minutes.
But the Braves found some patience on offense, working the ball against the Bombers' zone to get layups for Lindsey Schauble and Sira Toure to pull ahead for good.
Khadidja Toure, who has signed to play at Oregon State, added nine steals and four assists
